The Six Elements of Life.
The Six Elements of Life concept draws inspiration from the journey of creation and a profound appreciation for life. This collection of six crafted pebble seats represents the core elements of our universe, blending philosophy with design. Beyond their functional purpose, these seats carry deep meaning, each embodying a unique aspect of life.
Each seat symbolises a vital force that shapes our world: Light, which illuminates the world and symbolises clarity and understanding; Sky and Land, which form the vast expanse of nature’s embrace, serving as the foundation of existence; Vegetation, representing life in bloom, growth, nourishment, and renewal; Sun, Moon, and Stars, reflecting the celestial harmony that governs time and life’s cycles; Animals, embodying the diversity and spirit of the animal kingdom, reminding us of the interconnectedness of all beings; and Humans, standing as the pinnacle of creation, illustrating consciousness, creativity, and purpose.
The backs of the crafted pebble seats feature a stunning combination of materials: a contour inlay with coloured veneer, which brings depth and character; tin, adding a subtle metallic sheen that enhances the overall design; and mother of pearl, which offers a luxurious touch, catching the light and adding a radiant quality to each piece.
COSMOS.
Inspired by the intricate nature of our solar system, the COSMOS collection of crafted pebble seats seeks to bring the celestial bodies closer to Earth, intertwining art and science through masterful craftsmanship. Each pebble seat is designed to symbolise one of the planets in our solar system, offering a unique, tactile interpretation of these distant worlds.
The concept utilises the contour inlay technique with coloured veneer to represent the individual characteristics of each planet. The carefully layered veneers evoke the vibrant colours and textures found in the planets’ surfaces and atmospheres. The varying contours reflect the diverse terrains and unique topographies of each planet, whether it be the rocky craters of Mercury, the gas clouds of Jupiter, or the icy rings of Saturn.
Each seat is an homage to our solar system, offering a tangible connection to these far-off realms. The integration of colour, form, and texture not only pays tribute to the beauty of the planets but also invites the viewer to contemplate the complexity and vastness of the universe. Through this creative process, COSMOS transforms the seats into both functional objects and pieces of art, celebrating the endless mysteries of space while celebrating the human ability to capture that beauty in form and craftsmanship.
Stages of the Sun.
A conceptual collection that explores the sun’s transformative journey as it rises and sets over the mountains. This collection focuses on how the sun’s light interacts with the landscape, symbolising the connection between celestial and earthly elements.
The six crafted pebble seats represent different stages of the sun’s passage, from the soft, pastel tones of Sunrise to the vibrant reds and purples of Sunset, and the serene blues of Twilight/Dusk. Each seat is created using the contour inlay technique, with tin, coloured veneer, and mother-of-pearl inlay. The tin adds a metallic gleam, reflecting the enduring energy of the sun, while the coloured veneer mimics the shifting hues of the sky. The mother-of-pearl inlay captures the iridescent glow of twilight, adding depth and light to the design.
This collection honours the beauty and rhythm of nature’s cycles, showcasing the dynamic interplay of light and landscape as the sun rises and sets over the mountains each day.
Embroidered Horizons.
This series of two crafted pebble seats, featuring intricate straw backs with embroidered mountain landscapes, draws inspiration from the breathtaking mountains of Lebanon. The embroidery delicately captures the rugged, natural beauty of Lebanon’s mountainous terrain, translating its iconic peaks and valleys into a tactile work of art.
The combination of the sculptural, stone-like pebble seats and the organic texture of the straw backs creates a harmonious contrast, blending natural materials with artistic craftsmanship. The embroidered landscape not only highlights the stunning vistas of Lebanon’s mountains but also evokes a sense of connection to nature and heritage.
Each seat is a tribute to the rich, timeless beauty of Lebanon’s landscape, using a combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern design to bring the mountains to life in a new and captivating way.
The Straw Embroidered Console.
A meticulously crafted piece that blends the natural materials and refined craftsmanship. Featuring a surface of finely woven straw with an enlarged embroidery pattern in warm browns and beige tones, the console evokes a sense of nature-inspired elegance.
The addition of a luxurious travertine top brings a sophisticated contrast, enhancing the piece’s natural feel while offering a smooth, durable surface. Brass legs and fixtures provide a polished, modern touch, balancing the organic textures of the straw and travertine with sleek, metallic accents.
This console blends traditional techniques with contemporary design, creating a harmonious blend of texture, colour, and material. It serves as both a functional piece and a work of art, bringing warmth and sophistication to any space.
The Carved Series.
A sophisticated collection that showcases the beauty of oak wood, meticulously carved with a striking diamond pattern in various scales and orientations. This series includes a side table, console, reception desk, and dining table, each designed to bring a unique and dynamic aesthetic to any space.
The intricate carving technique highlights the natural grain of the oak, creating a tactile texture that enhances the beauty of the wood. The mix of materials, including brass, concrete, marble, and liquid metal, adds contrast and depth to each piece, offering both a modern and timeless appeal. Each material is thoughtfully selected to complement the carved wood, whether adding the warmth of brass, the industrial feel of concrete, the elegance of marble, or the innovative touch of liquid metal.
